A group blog by the Knoxville News Sentinel photo staff

In the heat of the moment I didn’t realize what I had here. I thought I was just photographing a tackle with a potential fumble. It wasn’t until after the play when Marcus Lattimore appeared in agony that I realized something was up.

After the trainers and medical staff came to the field I began to review my sequence of images from the play. Again, I didn’t see it as it happened, but once I began to review the photos I saw Lattimore’s leg in the fourth image you see above. 

It was moving to see both teams surround him after the injury and let go of their competitive intensity for a few moments. I wish him a speedy and full recovery.
