Forgive Us Our Lens

Daniel Pacific melts sand into glass at Richard Jolley’s studio on Monday, January 9, 2012. Jolley is currently working on a large installation for the Knoxville Museum of Art that is expected to be finished in 2014. 

I shot this back in January, but the story didn’t publish until March. Melting sand is perhaps not the most exciting moment in photography, but it is beautifully illuminated.
